HEXACO Personality Test

Before we get to the fun AI part, we first have to cover the basis on which the demo in this article is built. The HEXACO Personality Test is a modern, reputable psychodiagnostic tool that rates a person along six personality traits:

HEXACO is an extension of the famous “Big Five” personality test, adding the Honesty-Humility category; there is strong scientific evidence that the test has very high validity and reliability. Respondents fill out a questionnaire that takes roughly 10 minutes to complete and based on their answers, they receive scores (low, medium, high) in the six aforementioned dimensions.

There are entire scientific literatures and manuals devoted to the interpretation of these results — what each score in a particular dimension means, how to work with this trait, how a given mix of traits may collaborate with other personalities, and so on. And this is where Semantee comes into play.

Creating a RAG application

At Semantee, we focus on semantic search — the ability to search through data using natural, human language. One popular use of this technology is RAG — retrieval augmented generation. In simpler terms, reading through lengthy documents and being able to ask questions in a human manner, finding pieces within the document that correspond to the meaning of the query, and having a meaningful response generated in return.

Semantee does this particularly well. Not only can you *type* your question, you can also use your voice to ask. Furthermore, the document can be in virtually any language (we support 50 of them) and the question itself doesn’t have to be in the same language as the text at all.

The final piece: the Avatar

Here’s when we decided to showboat for effect. The whole system could work reasonable well as a chatbot, where you type your question and get a text response in return. However, we wanted the user to use their voice to ask the question and we decided to create a photorealistic avatar to deliver the resulting response.

The avatar speaks all of our languages fluently and will answer in whichever language you decide to pose the question. It’s trained specifically to be a HEXACO expert and knows the methodology inside and out. You can ask it virtually anything pertaining to this test and the avatar consultant will give you the best practices.

While we are aware that this particular demo is a little overboard, having a simple assistant interface to prepare yourself for an interview with a candidate when you have their HEXACO results can be highly useful.
